with the u.s. state department are honing in on some brand-new videotape out of benghazi, libya. and it's videotape that shows witnesses -- well, at least witnesses say -- shows ambassador chris stevens being pulled out of a charred window just moments after this attack on the u.s. consulate there last week. here's our arwa damon with that video. >> reporter: this is the first thing that he says he saw and filmed at the consulate compound. the cafeteria building up in flames. it was shortly before midnight, september 11th. the smoke so thick, the compound's main house is barely visible. and then this. after breaking through a window, men shout they have found a body. suddenly, one of them cries out, "he's alive! he's alive!" the crowd cheers. "god it great!" rushing for a car, they realize it's a foreigner. "i was filming the video, and i thought it was an american, fahed recalls, but i thought it was a driver or a security guy. i never thought it was the ambassador." it's clear from the rest of the video that the man they pulled out was ambassador christopher stevens. fahed says he was

on benghazi. the u.s. and fbi cooperating. there's new video of libyans who apparently tried to rescue ambassador chris stevens but was frustrated because there was no ambulances around or first aid. they took him in a private car. >>> thanks so much. here's a look at other news going on around america today. in dallas, just frightening video here. it shows the moment when two women were struck by a hit and run driver who then drove an embankment to escape. the victims had pulled over on a highway off ramp because of a flat tire. police were responding to that call when the hit and run happened in front of them. the other driver remains on the loose. >>> in georgia, an even more bizarre hit and run. someone plowed into a house in the middle of the night when two people were inside asleep. they didn't know it happened until they woke up and found a chunk of their house completely wiped out. >>> in oregon, rescuers did a perfect job of saving a kitten. it was trapped beneath a basement in that drain pipe. it took firefighters and april plumber six hours to free the little guy. >>> finall
